Description
A lot of three 1950s-era souvenir items depict historic Virginia City, Nevada.1. Historic Virginia City In Full Color is a 9" x 6 1/4" booklet of maps, historic background and numerous photos. Published 1953. Photos include St. Mary's in the Mountains Church (exterior/interior views), street views, civic buildings, other churches, Piper's Opera House, saloons, Gold Hill, Reno Arch night scene, Young's Bal-Bijou Beach (Lake Tahoe), Sutro Tunnel, Comstock House Hotel, and other views.
2. Foldout brochure of Virginia City, "Liveliest Ghost Town of the Old West." Published 1955.
3. Unused postcard featuring the Brass Rail saloon, "open 24 hours a day--367 days a year, 25 hours on Sundays."
Items are in relatively good condition as they've been stored in a scrapbook since their acquisition. Removing them caused light damage to the backs (see last photo) as the tape strips were impervious to my solvent; the sticky residue has been removed from remaining tape strips.
