    ::::::::::About me:::::::
    Thank you for considering this item. I am a disability retired speech therapist. During my career I treated 3, 4, and 5 year-old developmentally disabled children and geriatric patients with dementia or swallowing difficulties. My career was very satisfying and I feel I helped a lot of people.
    This changed when I was diagnosed with a rare disease called diabetic gastroparesis. Gastroparesis is caused by damage to the Vagus nerve. Because the Vagus nerve no longer functions, my stomach doesn't perform peristalsis. Because it doesn't perform peristalsis my stomach doesn't empty it takes up to 12 hours for the food to leave my stomach where the average person it only takes one to two hours. Other symptoms include vomiting, severe nausea, severe abdominal pain, nutritional deficits, dental decay due to stomach acid, and insomnia.
    There is no cure for gastroparesis. This disease limits what I can eat as my stomach cannot digest the food. I can no longer eat meat that includes pork beef chicken and turkey. I cannot eat any fruits or vegetables that are high in fiber which is the majority of them. I can't consume anything with tomatoes or vinegar. I cannot enjoy coffee or any alcoholic beverages.
    To treat the gastroparesis I undergo an endoscopy with Botox injections. The Botox injections are applied to the pyloric valve. This allows the valve to relax and consequently the food can flow into the intestines. I still am not able to eat regular food or a regular diet I am limited to foods that are soft or purée. However this treatment decrease in the frequency of vomiting. Unfortunately the treatment is not permanent. The Botox dissipate after 4 to 6 months so the treatment has to be repeated. Other treatments include a gastrectomy or removal of the stomach, and a gastric neurostimulator, tube feedings, or feeding via TPN.
    I also have many medications I have to take to keep me alive and improve my quality of life. Some medications I can't afford and consequently I am doing without them right now. I have a dysfunctional pancreas and it requires an enzyme called Creon.
    I am now on Medicare but because I am under the age of 65 I am not eligible for Medigap insurance in Ohio so I have to pay the 20% co pay. that is due on everything. I have a fixed income so I have limited funds -- it's very difficult to make ends meet. It's difficult not to feel like a burden to everyone around me.
    So now this is my effort to alleviate my financial woes. And I hope that my efforts in finding good quality Antiques and other collectibles plus the wallets that I create will make people happy Because if you were to buy an item you would be helping me *really* *really* *really!*
    To bring cheer to other chronically ill people, I make and gift them a wallet in their mail! These are Facebook inidividuals who I've come to know but I've never met them face-to-face! I know that when they get this wallet in the mail it will bring a smile to their face with some unexpected cheer. For that I will be grateful it's just a good feeling.
    Thank you for reading my long narrative I certainly appreciate it and I welcome any comments you might have.
