Please note: I ship to USA only. Depending on buyer's location eBay may collect state sales tax. The USPS continues to
have difficulties so shipping may be slow.
For sale
is
a copy (NOT an original) of a vintage blueprint of the RB-49A
flying wing bomber entitled (in part):
"MASTER lines and stations".
It is drawing number 70001 and it was page 1 of 4 according to the title block.
Only page 1
is present.
Much of the title block and other info is unreadable as the print is a reduction of a much larger original.
This is an interesting drawing as it provides basis for the airframe coordinate system (stations
and water lines).
It appears
that Mr. Le Vau may marked up the
drawing
to highlight bulkheads.
The original copy of this item was contained in a collection of Northrop materials owned by career Northrop
structural engineer
(
Lawrence Le Vau)
from whose
estate these materials
came.
The drawing is marked up in color to highlight bulkheads and
the number 1012 is hand written in red pencil but the print is in otherwise good condition (again, for sale is a copy of the
print).
Mr. Le Vau worked on the B-35 and the B-49 flying wings and it appears, based on the materials provided,
he worked
on
the F-89D Scorpion as well.
He was on a team that investigated the crash of YB-49 aircraft 2.
It is likely that Mr. Le Vau
referenced and marked up this print while working on the crash investigation.
With
the original
item
being an actual blueprint
I was concerned about the legality of selling it.
I was told
by
Maxwell AFB
personnel that since the item is over 50 years old it is fair game
.
This item would
be of
particular interest
to any fan of the history of the Northrop
Flying
wing
aircraft
but would also be
of interest to any military aviation buff in general.
Any folks involved in the design and manufacture of military aircraft
might be interested in this as well.
Please
ask any questions you might have prior to bidding
.
Thank you.
