    An original BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD REAR HANDLE AND FRONT KNOB for an early Sargent No. 408 1 3/4" width smoothing plane by Sargent & Company, New Haven, Connecticut. The earliest Sargent cast iron bench planes were produced with rosewood handles before the transition, first to East India Mahogany and then to stained hardwood.
