Lionel Polar Express "All Aboard!" Sound System

Description

This is a
Lionel Polar Express Sound System
that plays the famous
"All Aboard!" conductor announcement
from the movie when activated by your transformer. This system was originally included in a separate-sale passenger car with conductor figure.
A
conventional postwar or modern AC transformer
with horn/whistle or bell controls is required to operate this system. AC Transformers with a separate 6-5906 Lionel Sound Activation Button are OK too. This sound system
will not work on DC, nor does it work with the LionChief system.
(LionChief sets use a remote control to operate the train, and therefore don't work with these sound systems.)
The only wiring needed is to get track power to the board, and if it'll fit, the system can be placed inside any passenger car, freight car or caboose as long as they have the appropriate roller pick-ups (not included) for power. The two sound system wires get connected to track power via those roller pick-ups, and their orientation will determine whether these boards respond to the whistle/horn or bell controls on your conventional AC transformer. If your transformer has neither of these controls, you'll want to invest in a Lionel 6-5906 Sound Activation Button. But note that if you already have something else that responds to these same commands (another sound system, etc.) on the same circuit, then they will get activated too.
There are no background or other sounds -- just the "All Aboard!" conductor announcement. The sound volume is fixed, but the level is adequate for most layouts, especially when installed inside a passenger or freight car that acts as a speaker enclosure.
The sound board measures 1.625" x 1" x 0.75". The speaker measures 2" in diameter, and is about 0.5" tall. Double-sided foam tape is included to help mount the board and speaker.
*** Something worth mentioning:
Chances are you'll be installing this sound system in an item that wasn't designed to have sound. Because there are so many variables involving the different places you could install these, you’ll need to be somewhat handy to adapt it to your particular installation. (There really is no such thing as an aftermarket "plug and play" sound system.)
This will include locating and connecting the power wires, and drilling openings in the frame of your passenger or freight car to allow the sound to escape.
Therefore, I can't recommend this for people who aren't familiar with working on their trains. As always, ask if you have questions.
