    Here we have an
    'EXTREMELY RARE' Antique1870 MORRIS PATENT Smooth Plane made by Ohio Tool Co. with Proper Iron.
    This is the Nov. 8, 1870 Ellis H. Morris Smooth Plane with the
    Diamond-pattern sole
    .  The patent date can be found inside the toe section.  This example was reviewed and presented by Brown Auction Group for sale.  The plane has a very good tote which has a slight extended over-hanging design.  This was determined by "Brown"  to be the 'improved handle design' used by Ohio Tool Co. on a few plow planes, and since this is a perfect fit they determined it to be original.  There are no cracks in the handle or the knob. The wedge has some minor bruising at the top. The sides of the plane have been eased about a 45-degree angle.  The 2-1/4" wide cutting iron is original and marked: 'OHIO TOOL CO.   CAST STEEL  WARRANTED'.  Plane is approx. 9-1/2" Long.  No cracks, breaks or repairs.  No owner marks.
