his came from a local high school. I remember when they used to actually teach woodworking in school. Of course like almost every plane I’ve ever had that was in a school it had paint on the tote, knob, and the toe and heel of the plane, in school colors of yellow and blue. It has been brought back to it original configuration. Black, brass and rosewood with a dab of orange. No breaks cracks chips or repairs to the body or frog. The Rosewood tote and knob are free of cracks chips or repairs, both have been re-lacquered and then hand rubbed to a silky smooth feel. The sole has been lightly lapped and checked at the toe mouth and heel. The mouth is good with no chips cracks or alterations. The near full length iron has been lapped flat on the back and then honed with a 10,000 grit Ohishi Water Stone, Scary Sharp and makes see through shavings in black cherry with a finish as smooth as glass. The lever cap and chip breaker have been lapped at their contact point with the iron to ensure a firm seat and reduce chatter. The frog was checked for rocking and sits firmly on the body. The edges of the sole have been relieved to prevent marring of the surface while planing. This one is set up as a true smoother, the corners of the iron have been rounded to prevent this pesky plane tracks. All screws move freely and have been lightly oiled.
