Please note our installation instructions when installing the turbocharger
and the installation instructions from the vehicle manufacturer.
When making your purchase decision, please also note our message regarding the assembly of non-standard-compliant turbochargers and the loss of the operating permit and their assembly !!
You do not know which turbocharger you have installed in the vehicle ???
To identify the turbocharger, we need the data from your vehicle (KBA or Key number) or the original part number. If you have already removed your turbocharger, you can also send us the data from the turbocharger nameplate. These are usually structured as follows:
OE number:
Vehicle manufacturer number
Serial number:
internal manufacturer number
Item number:
Item number of the turbocharger manufacturer

Error Description:
With the 1.6l DV6 engines it often occurs due to a lack of
Oil supply in the area of the radial bearing to damage the turbocharger. Impurities in the lubricating oil system are responsible for this; among other things by soot deposits, as well as increased oil carbon formation.
It is by no means enough to simply install a new turbocharger
without carefully analyzing the cause in advance and eliminating the fault, as this will most likely cause a second failure !!
Recommendations regarding Diagnosis and remedy:
Before a new turbocharger is installed on the engine and put into operation, the following work must be carried out:
-
Oil pressure test on the inlet line of the turbocharger.
This must be min. Reach 2 bar at 2000 rpm.
-
Replace the oil feed line and banjo bolt
-
Visual inspection of the intake and charge air system for contamination.
If necessary, clean or replace.
-
Dismantle the oil pan and valve cover, check for contamination by oil deposits (sludge / lumps) and clean them.
-
If tar-like sludge residues are found, a vehicle manufacturer advises
the engine must be replaced before installing the turbocharger!
We urge you to take the last point in particular seriously and to refrain from paying the "apprenticeship fee"
In the event of contamination without finding tar-like sludge residues, the following additional tests and repairs must be carried out:
(1)
Dismantle and clean the pump suction pipe with the oil strainer, or replace
(2)
Clean the inside of the motor as far as it is accessible.
(3)
Check the dipstick
If a measuring stick made of black plastic with a yellow handle is available, it must be replaced with the current design made of white composite material with an orange handle.
Danger:
The amount of oil is
no more
, as before in the documents
specified,
3.75l
. With the new dipstick an amount of oil of
3.95l
reached.
(4)
Clean / replace oil cooler and oil filter unit.
(5)
Dismantle, disassemble and clean the vacuum pump.
Note:
When installing the new turbocharger, please be sure to replace the oil feed line and its connecting elements.
(6)
Perform flow measurement!
After the work mentioned above, the oil flow rate must be checked with the turbocharger installed.
This test must be carried out at least 3 times!
-Mount all air hoses
-Fasten the oil supply line and instead of the return line, mount a hose on the return flange of the turbocharger, which is fed into a measuring container.
-
Fill the engine with engine oil
Important:
The minimum oil level must not be reached during the measuring process
be undercut!
- Let the engine idle for 60 seconds
-Measured oil volume must be greater than 0.3 liters
-
Now repeat the test 2 more times!
- Then dismantle the measuring hose and run it through the return line
replace.
-
Now carry out an extended test drive of 30-40 km
-
A renewal of the engine oil including the filter is recommended after this test drive
Install all banjo bolt with sieve in the oil feed line
We indicated the need to renew the oil feed line in advance and in our installation instructions.
Attention!
In some applications
- such as Citroen C4 1.6HDI, or Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI -
There is still a special case in the area of oil supply that can turn into a special case if ignored.
The oil feed line itself is constructed like many others; only a fine hair sieve has been built into one of the line-fastening banjo screws.
This screen construction is obviously intended to prevent dirt from entering the turbocharger via the oil line.
Danger:
However, if this sieve becomes clogged with dirt, the goal is missed, because now the turbo dies instead of being dirty due to lack of oil.
It is therefore urgently advisable to replace this banjo bolt when installing a new turbocharger, as well as the line itself.
Also
got to
When replacing the turbocharger, the oil pan MUST be dismantled and cleaned.
There you will find the main oil intake pipe (suction strainer) of the engine
In this intake pipe you will also find a sieve, which becomes clogged with dirt particles due to high engine wear.
This suction pipe (strainer)
MUST be renewed to ensure that the new turbocharger or the engine is supplied with sufficient oil.
We hope that with this detailed information we can help you to carry out the work correctly and to avoid further problems
