Asolo Transit XCR GTX Waterproof Hiking Shoes
, US 6.5 and EU 38. Barely used in clean and excellent condition.
Only wore once on a 15-mile hiking trip in North Carolina's blue ridge mountain region.
Moving to midwest and will not have chance for long-distance hiking in the near future. Hope that these shoes are useful for other hikers.
Specifications:
It starts with an EVA midsole that has a shock absorbing effect to prevent fatigue and injuries.
This only covers that part of the foot (right under the heel) that actually receives a heavy shock and can therefore use the cushioning.
Underneath this small sole is a larger midsole (EVA), but with a slightly higher density to spread the cushioning over the entire foot.
At the bottom is a combination of a sturdy Asolo / Vibram sole for a firm grip, equipped with the Asobrake system.
The Transit XCR discussed here is a women's model that comes with a Gore-Tex XCR liner.
Interesting to know is a unique feature of Asosorb, that the hardness of the cushioning element in the heel is programmed for a specific size range (and thus the expected weight of the user): large men's sizes have a stiffer cushioning element (10-13 : blue element) than the softer lined ladies' sizes (3 -5 : yellow).
The little gentlemen and big ladies are somewhere in between in terms of damping (6-9 : red damping element).
The Asobrake system was introduced earlier and provides good grip, even when walking downhill.
This prevents many injuries and you as a walker get tired less quickly while walking.
Also special about the Enduro series is the application of ASOsorb.
A size-dependent piece of insole provides good cushioning and therefore less injuries and less fatigue.
It will therefore be clear that the soles of the Enduro series offer just that little bit more than soles of regular low walking shoes.
